This caused a few small rivers and streams to reach bankfull. A cold front produced much of this rainfall as it moved east across the region. This front is becoming nearly stationary across Cape Cod, and may stall just off the coast. The major rivers are rising as a result of the rainfall and recent snow melt. Low pressure is expected to develop on the front over the mid Atlantic states, and then travel north. This will produce more precipitation in the region today. Meanwhile, colder air is pushing into New England from the west and northwest. This will change any rain over to snow this afternoon in the west, and during the overnight hours in the east. Over northwestern Massachusetts and into southern New Hampshire, a band of 3 to 6" of snow is expected to fall. High pressure starts to build in for late Monday. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The weather reported was light rain. The skies were cloudy.
