Early this morning most locations across southern New England reported readings in the 20s, with teens well inland. Clouds across New England were associated with a cold front over western New York extending south into the Tennessee valley. An area of flurries were moving through southern New England during the predawn hours, however steadier and somewhat heavier snow was across eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This area of snow was associated with a weak wave of low pressure forming on the cold front over Kentucky early this morning. This area of snow will move northeast and clip southern New England today, with the steadiest snow falling over south coastal sections of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The snow may mix with rain across Nantucket, as slightly warmer air advances north from the relatively warmer ocean. Farther inland, very little if any snow will fall north of the Mass Pike. Snow will taper off late this afternoon from west to east, as the cold front exits into the Atlantic. High pressure and dry weather will build east over New England tonight and Thursday. This will set the stage for tranquil mid winter weather Thursday, as sunshine combines with near normal temperatures and light winds. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The weather reported was light snow and fog.
