The trough will move offshore today, bringing an end to the light snow later this morning. Snowfall overnight ranged from a dusting to an inch across most locations, however snowfall up to 4" has been reported over northwest Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Much colder air is beginning to move through the region early this morning, as an arctic high builds east toward New England. Despite a fair amount of sunshine this afternoon, high temperatures will occur this morning. Readings will fall into the teens and single digits later this afternoon, as the core of the arctic air overspreads the region. In addition, a brisk north wind will combine with very cold temperatures today to create frigid wind chills of minus 5 to minus 15°. As temperatures plummet into the single digits tonight, and zero to minus 10 well inland, a brisk northwest wind will generate dangerous wind chills of minus 15 to minus 29°. The arctic air combined with the relatively warm ocean, will yield snow showers and squalls developing across Cape Cod later today and tonight, where several inches may accumulate. Cold high pressure will dominate the eastern seaboard Tuesday. Expect mostly sunny skies and temperatures not quite as cold, with highs ranging from the mid teens inland to the mid 20s along the coast. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were cloudy.
