Winds were light and out of the south. Temperatures at 5 am ranged from the upper 20s northwest, to the mid 30s southeast. High pressure off the New England coast will head northeast today. A south to southwest wind will increase through the afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. Under this southerly wind, low clouds and fog will persist throughout the morning hours for south coastal locations, as well as over the coastal waters. Temperatures will rise into the mid 50s to low 60s across the interior this afternoon. For the south coast temperatures will be a bit cooler in the mid to upper 40s. Fog and stratus will return again tonight, especially over the eastern third of the region. Mid to high clouds will also advance over western parts tonight ahead of the cold front that is expected to stall across the area Wednesday. There will be the chance for rain showers Wednesday as low pressure will lift along the frontal boundary. This system will head northeast Wednesday night.
