Skies were mostly clear across the region at daybreak except over the outer Cape and Nantucket where ocean effect clouds had worked in from the east. Gusty northwest winds were slowly diminishing, the result of strong high pressure to our west and intense low pressure over new foundland. During the day, an upper level disturbance will be approaching from the north while another ocean storm rapidly develops off the Carolina coast. This will result in skies becoming partly to mostly cloudy as the day progresses. A few flurries are possible across the higher terrain and over the Cape and islands. It will still be very cold with slowly diminishing winds. Temperatures will again struggle to reach the low and mid teens across the interior and 20° along the shore. Tonight, winds will turn into the north as the intense ocean storm passes well offshore. The result will be a redevelopment of ocean effect snow for Cape Cod and Nantucket island. The remainder of the region will see lingering high cloudiness clear out by midnight. North winds will increase late at night especially along the coast. Lows will drop to 0 to 10 inland and range from the teens to mid 20s along the coast. Other than lingering clouds and snow showers on the Cape and Nantucket Friday morning, Friday will feature mostly sunny skies and a bit milder temperatures. Highs should range from the upper teens well inland to near 30° on the Cape and islands. Looking briefly at the upcoming weekend, Saturday should be dry with seasonable temperatures. Sunday may bring a chance of snow to parts of the region with rain and snow on the Cape and islands. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were clear.
