Yesterdays winter storm dumped as much as 10" of snow south of the Mass Pike and 2 to 4" to the north. Bitterly cold air remains in its wake, with many of the interior valleys reporting below zero temperatures just before sunrise. Skies will clear on Cape Cod and Nantucket this morning, giving way to bright sunshine throughout the region, as high pressure builds over New England. Clouds will increase during the afternoon, ahead of a weak front moving east from the Great Lakes. The front may produce scattered snow showers in southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts tonight, with flurries down to the south coast. Southwest winds will bring milder air into southern New England on Saturday. Sunshine will boost temperatures into the 40s during the afternoon. A cold front is expected to cross the region Sunday, bringing a chance of rain or snow showers.
