Light snow fell over much of southeast Massachusetts and Rhode Island last
night, with as much as two inches of accumulation reported. Elsewhere cloudy
skies prevailed, and temperatures fell into the teens to mid 20s, except for
some lower 30s over the Cape and islands. Lingering areas of light snow over
eastern Massachusetts will end this morning. Clouds will give way to some
sunshine across the Connecticut valley this morning and farther east by
afternoon, as weak high pressure builds over New England. More light snow can
be expected tonight into Wednesday. Low pressure north of the Great Lakes will
track across Quebec, swinging a cold front through New England. Another low
will follow on its heels Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing another round
of light snow.
