Skies had become cloudy early this morning, behind a cold front which pushed
south of New England overnight. Temperatures had fallen into the 20s and 30s
before daybreak. Low pressure will form along the front over North Carolina
today. As the low passes well southeast of New England this afternoon, it will
spread snow throughout the region, starting in the Connecticut valley during
the morning rush hour and by late morning in eastern Massachusetts. The
heaviest snow is expected in Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts this
afternoon. The snow will quickly end this evening, as the low heads farther
offshore. High pressure will bring clearing skies tonight and sunshine Friday,
but temperatures will stay below normal for early March.
