Patchy dense fog formed in southeastern Massachusetts and southern Rhode Island for a while around midnight. Light rain was approaching from the southwest but did not reach the region before daybreak. Overnight temperatures were mainly in the 40s except mid to upper 30s in northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. One batch of rain is expected to move across the southern half of the area, especially Connecticut, Rhode Island, and southeast Massachusetts later this morning into this afternoon. Clouds may thin for a while in far northwest portions of the area this morning. Highs today will mainly be in the 50 to 55 range. A more prolonged and substantial rainfall will occur tonight as low pressure moves from the DelMarVa coast tonight to near Nantucket early Monday, then to the Gulf of Maine Monday afternoon. One half to one inch of rainfall is expected across most of the region. Lows tonight will hold mainly in the 40s. After the rain ends from this system Monday morning, an upper level disturbance will approach from the west, which will continue the chance of rain, especially in northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Highs Monday should be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. After a partly sunny and seasonable day on Tuesday, there is yet another chance of rain on Wednesday as a cold front approaches. === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 31-Mar-2002 06:51 EST === 7am: Vrb03kt P6sm Sct060 Bkn100 10am: Vrb03kt P6sm Sct070 Bkn120 6pm: 07006kt P6sm Bkn035 Ovc070; Prob40 6-10pm: 4sm -ra Br Ovc030 10pm: 05006kt 2sm -ra Br Ovc008; Tempo 10-6am: 3/4sm Ra+ Br Ovc002
