The showers are associated with a cold front approaching eastern New York early this morning. Southerly winds out ahead of the front held overnight temperatures in the 40s to around 50 degrees. Any lingering showers early today should end most areas before mid morning, as the front pushes off the coast. Along the southeast coast, the Cape and islands, showers could linger into the early afternoon. Even once the front moves off to the east, the clouds will be slow to clear, so look for mostly cloudy skies through much of the day. Even with winds becoming west this afternoon, it will continue on the mild side with highs this afternoon in the 50s to lower 60s. The front will stall over the ocean south of New England tonight, and a series of low pressure systems will move northeast along it. This means more clouds moving in late tonight and the chance for more much needed rainfall later Sunday into Monday. === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 30-Mar-2002 06:24 EST === 7am: 18015g22kt 6sm -ra Ovc003; Tempo 7-9am: P6sm Nsw Sct005 Ovc010 9am: 22014g24kt P6sm Ovc015 12pm: 26012g22kt P6sm Bkn035 5pm: 27008kt P6sm Sct250 1am: 25008kt P6sm Bkn200
