With the fresh snow and light winds, temperatures at 5 am ranged from 10 to 15 degrees within sheltered valleys of southern New Hampshire and northwest Massachusetts, to 22 to 27 degrees in the larger cities. Where there was a hint of an onshore wind, temperatures were around freezing. The weather map showed a low pressure moving east across the northern Great Lakes. Another low pressure was developing along the mid Atlantic coast. The low pressure is expected to intensify as it moves northeast along the coast today. Snow is expected to arrive by afternoon across interior New England. Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and especially south and east of lawrence, Boston and Providence, should see the snow mix with rain. Eventually the snow should change to rain over these areas. As this low pressure is not as strong as the storm on Saturday, snowfall up to 2 inches is anticipated over interior southern New England. High pressure over the Appalachians, will then take control of our weather tonight, and persist through Wednesday. With west winds, plenty of sunshine and most of the snow melted, temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal by midweek. === The weather observed at WORCESTER at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were clear.
