Early risers should be alert for icy spots on untreated roads, since the ground remains wet from yesterdays rainfall and temperatures were near freezing in many locations. Flurries were scattered throughout southwest New Hampshire, western and central Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. Flurries will linger early this morning, then weak high pressure will build over New England today, providing partly sunny skies and temperatures just above normal. Highs will range from the upper 30s to the lower 40s. Low pressure is forecast to head east across the Great Lakes tonight, while a second low forms off the mid Atlantic coast. Light precipitation, in the form of rain near the coast, and a mix of rain and snow inland, will develop toward daybreak Sunday. Lows will range from near 30 over far interior sections, to the mid 30s in southeast New England. The second low will intensify as it passes southeast of Nantucket Sunday afternoon, causing windy conditions along the coast. Rain is expected from Providence and plymouth to the Cape and islands, with mixed rain and snow farther north and west. Accumulating snow should be limited to southwest New Hampshire and far northwest Massachusetts, where 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible. High pressure will build over the region Monday, with a return to partly sunny skies. === === === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 12-Jan-2002 06:25 EST === 7am: 24008kt P6sm Sct035 Bkn050; Tempo 7-11am: Bkn035 1pm: 21008kt P6sm Sct120 Bkn250 3am: 19008kt P6sm Bkn035 Ovc080; Tempo 3-7am: 3sm -rasn Br Ovc008
