The coldest morning for most of southern New England was in progress during
the predawn hours. Temperatures this morning ranged from the single digits
inland, teens in the major cities of Boston, Providence, Hartford and
Worcester, to the lower 20s across the Cape and islands. Clouds are quickly
overspreading the region from the western horizon, as a potent area of low
pressure moves across Ontario. A gusty southwest wind will develop late this
morning into this afternoon, as low pressure moves into Quebec. Its attending
cold front will sweep across southern New England this evening. The front is
not expected to be accompanied by any precipitation, however another surge of
cold air will intrude the region tonight and Wednesday as winds shift to the
west.
