Overcast low cloudiness invaded northern Connecticut and northeastern Massachusetts toward daybreak. Elsewhere overcast low cloudiness prevailed most of the night. There were areas of fog, and it was dense at times reducing visibility to less than a half mile on Block Island, Marthas Vineyard, and Nantucket island. Early morning temperatures were in the 30s, to near 40 on the islands. Some sunshine will attempt to break through the clouds by this afternoon. A cool easterly air flow will keep temperatures in the mid 40s to around 50 along the coast but over western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, temperatures are forecast to climb well into the 50s. A warm front will pass northward across the area by tonight. Southerly winds and increasing moisture will aid in the production of widespread low cloudiness and fog again tonight, locally dense. Then, a spectacular day is forecast for Saturday. Early morning cloudiness will give way to partly sunny skies. Gusty southerly breezes will boost the mercury well into the 60s, except a little cooler on the Cape and islands. A strong cold front will move across southern New England late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, bringing a round of showers. Then gusty west to northwest winds will usher much colder air into the region on Sunday with highs closer to their seasonal normals, in the lower to middle 40s. === The weather observed at WORCESTER at 07:54 AM EST was: === The weather reported was fog.
