The snowfall accumulated up to 3 inches and was responsible for slippery roads in places. Cold air continued to push southward across the region. Clearing skies across western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut allowed temperatures to dip into the teens. It was in the 20s east where flurries lingered till daybreak. Sunshine will return to the southern three New England states as high pressure builds over the area today. The day will be chilly but, with the help of the sun, temperatures should creep up to just above the freezing mark. The mostly clear weather will be short lived. The next warm front will move across the region on Wednesday. Clouds will arrive after midnight and a mixture of snow and rain is likely on Wednesday. The area from southwest New Hampshire across Massachusetts to northern Connecticut will more likely have snow, while eastern areas may have rain or a rain and snow mix.
