Gusty northwest winds have brought colder temperatures back into the area with readings mostly in the 30s. A few 40 degree readings were confined to the islands. One cold front passed Nantucket just after midnight. Another cold front will pass through the region this afternoon and evening. Other than some occasionally patchy cloudiness, the front will come through dry. Highs today will be in the mid 30s to mid 40s. Following the passage of the second cold front this evening will come another surge of cold air. Temperatures will bottom out in the teens to lower 20s by daybreak Tuesday. Its quite possible that some interior valleys could see temperatures dip into the single digits. High pressure moving across the mid Atlantic states will control our weather Tuesday with seasonably cool highs in the 30s.
