Northern New Hampshire as well as the foothills and mountains of Maine were mostly cloudy. Winds were from the west at 5 to 10 mph with a few locales reporting gusts to near 20 mph. Temperatures at 3 am were in the 30s across both states. Below normal temperatures are on the way for the end of the week and 1st half of the weekend. A large Canadian high pressure system will build southeast and be in control of our weather through the weekend. Temperatures in this airmass are a bit cooler than normal for this time of year. Also, it will be windy today as that cold air filters down over Maine and New Hampshire. Skies will be mostly sunny with the exception of northern sections where it will be a bit more cloudy. Normal temperatures for this time of year range from lows in the upper 20s to the lower 30s and highs in the mid 40s to near 50 degrees. Thursday night our winds will decrease and, with clear skies, it is a good scenario for a rather cold night. Temperatures can be expected to range from the teens in northern sections to the upper teens and mid 20s across southern portions of our area. A weak disturbance will move across Maine and New Hampshire Friday. Not much weather will accompany this, however, we cannot rule out a chance for a flurry or two Friday afternoon and evening. The weekend looks quiet as high pressure controls our weather. The next chance for any precipitation reaching us will be late Monday and into Tuesday. === The weather observed at WHITEFIELD at 07:52 AM EST was: === The skies were clear.
