Clear skies prevailed across the region near sunrise as northwest winds continued to diminish. Temperatures were in the teens to mid 20s. A cold front passing through the region during the midday hours will reinforce the seasonably cold temperatures and increase northwest winds later today. Highs will reach the mid 20s to lower 30s. Gusty northwest winds will continue into tonight, persisting most of the night along the shoreline. Temperatures will fall into the teens in most areas, with a few single digit readings possible in the protected interior where there is a touch of snow cover. Wednesday will bring diminishing wind and seasonably cold temperatures, while high clouds increase late in the day along the south shore. Intensifying low pressure will pass well south and east of the Cape Thursday possibly producing snow showers on the Cape and islands. Though sparing the region any significant snow, this storm will usher in the coldest air so far this winter come Friday on gusty northwest winds. Temperatures may have a hard time getting out of the teens across the interior Friday with wind chill temperatures well below zero. === The weather observed at WORCESTER at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were clear.
