A wintry mix of light freezing rain, sleet, snow, was falling across southern New Hampshire, northern and central Massachusetts, reaching into northern Connecticut. Spotty light rain and drizzle was confined to the coast. Temperatures early this morning remained in the mid 20s to lower 30s inland, ranging to the mid 30s to near 40 along the coast, as well as on Cape Cod and the islands. A warm front will finally begin to move into the south coast this morning, then work northward across the region by midday. This will allow any leftover mixed precipitation to change over to rain showers as temperatures rise to the mid 40s to lower 50s. There may even be a thunderstorm across southern Rhode Island and south coastal Massachusetts during the afternoon. A strong area of low pressure will move across northern New England this afternoon. An associated strong cold front will sweep across the region early tonight, bringing colder and blustery conditions. High pressure will then begin to push east from the Ohio valley into New York state late tonight through Saturday, bringing dry but cool and blustery weather to the region. The outlook for super bowl Sunday calls for a partly sunny and seasonable day. However, skies will cloud over with a chance of snow Sunday night into Monday. === The weather observed at WORCESTER at 08:54 AM EST was: === The weather reported was fog. The skies were cloudy.
