OLD SOUTH LENTEN SERIES: CHURCH IN THE WORLD
Sundays March 5 to April 2 at 9 am OR 12:30 pm

THEOLOGICAL BOOK GROUP
Mondays in Lent at 6:00 pm in the Samuel Johnson Room.
What has Christianity Ever Done for Us?  How It Shaped the Modern World
by Jonathan Hill.

Most of us are able to list the many ways in which Christianity or
Christians have failed to live up to their callings in the world: wars,
oppressions, prejudices, etc. But what about the times when Christians have
gotten it right, what about those times when the church has made our world
look a little more like God’s realm? Come, join us for this study designed
to complement our Lenten series. We promise you’ll be surprised at all that
our tradition has done to make your world better! Copies of the book are
available at the front desk to buy for $17. Be in touch with Quinn Caldwell
if this cost is prohibitive for you.

MASSACHUSETTS BIBLE SOCIETY LUNCHES & LECTURES:

Rev. Dr. Stephanie Paulsellm Houghton Professor of the Practice of Ministry Studies
"A Small, Beautiful Thing: A Reflection for Lent"
                        Thursday, March 16th at noon
The Lenten Season has generated many expressions of piety and devotions, some helpful, others not.  In our
quest for a meaningful Lenten experience, Dr. Paulsell will help us explore how the small, seemingly
insignificant gestures of Lenten practice have the potential to reorient us--to set our feet, as the psalmist
says, "in a broad place." To be held at the Paulist Center Library, 5 Park Street, Boston.
Reservations are required for this luncheon event. Please call 617-542-2230, or e-mail <admin@massbible.org> by noon
Tuesday, March 14, 2006. The suggested luncheon donation is $10.
